Check out our partner Mokum's MFA article!

Check out this article written by one of our partners Mokum recently! It’s entitled “MFA – Live Oracle Data in a Spreadsheet or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love Excel.” In the article, Mark Bastable, Director at Mokum, recalls how a technological applications enthusiast such as himself became a convert to the accountant’s love for Microsoft Excel® through use of the Mokum Financial Analyser (MFA) tool.  He also delves into how MFA solves the long-standing issues between Excel and an ERP. Mark recounts his story in a humorous, personal way and details all the useful features of MFA; it’s a fantastic read. Check out the article here! Come see OMNI at the OMNI!!

Global Software, Inc. is excited to be attending the HFTP Annual Conference and Tradeshow on October 19-22 at the Omni Hotel at the CNN Center in Atlanta, GA. Global Software, Inc’s Dan Havey and Caitlyn Ashton-Gill will be set up at Booth #303 for the entirety of the conference.

We will also be hosting a presentation entitled “Case Study: Best Practices & Technologies for Building Microsoft® Excel-based Financial Reports,’ featuring Dean Boswell, VP-Finance, at Omni Hotels.  Attendees will learn how to save time off of their monthly financial reporting and increase data integrity by eliminating reliance on manual data exports and rekeying to Microsoft Excel from their ERP system.

The presentation will be held from 7:00-7:30 pm on October 19th at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center Exhibit Hall. All attendees will be placed into a drawing for a gift card!

Oracle OpenWorld 2011 is upon us and Global Software, Inc. is excited to be in attendance! Oracle OpenWorld will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA from October 2-6, 2011.

We’ll be hosting 4 briefings at the Global Software, Inc. Booth (No. 3437) in the Moscone West exhibit hall. These briefings will cover how strategic Oracle EBS customer, California ISO, is automating financial reporting and distribution inside Microsoft® Excel.

Get the latest release of Distribution Manager!

We're excited to announce the latest release of Distribution Manager, version 12.6.1. This version contains a multitude of new features so delivery of business critical information is even more efficient than before. Some of the highlights of the new release are as follows:

Global welcomes Sherry Puckett as Sr. Strategic Product Specialist

Global Software, Inc. is pleased to welcome Sherry Puckett to our team as Sr. Strategic Product Specialist. Sherry will be hosting demos with prospective clients as well as assist with training with local businesses, installations, and trials. Before she joined Global Software, Sherry was a consultant at Robert Half and was Sr. Vice President of Finance at Square 1 Bank. She has two Bachelor degrees from NC State in Accounting and Business Management. In her free time, Sherry enjoys camping with her family at Carr Lake, spending time with her family on their farm in Oxford, and watching her 9-year-old son Jake play baseball. We warmly welcome Sherry to the Global Software family and we’re very excited to see what she will bring to the team!

Global attends Collaborate 11

OAUG/Quest/IOUG hosted Collaborate 11 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. 5,500 of the best and brightest in the Oracle industry attended including Global Software. Attendees had an opportunity to network with other Oracle users and obtain critical Oracle knowledge from education sessions. With over 1200 sessions, educators covered a variety of topics including “Setting the New Standard for Supply Management Applications”, “Managing Assets in a Global Environment”, and  “Enabling Your Chart of Accounts for Management Reporting and Compliance”.

Global Software was invited as a presenter and an exhibitor and our own Becky Kaufman, Caitlyn Ashton-Gill,Tonya Cannady, Jeff Alfers, Bjorn Beer and Amy Collier attended this event. We were lucky enough to host not one, but TWO sessions with two different customers. Becky Kaufman, Vice President, Client Services, hosted the session with Oracle customer, Orange Lake Country Club, entitled “Best Practices & Technologies for Building Microsoft Excel-Based Oracle Financial Report –Featuring Key Customer with Orange Lake Country Club”. The presentation discussed Orange Lake Country Club’s experience with Global Software’s Microsoft Excel-based automation tools.

Caitlyn Ashton-Gill, Product Information Manager, hosted the second session with customer, AAA, entitled “Best Practices and Technologies for Building Microsoft Excel-based JD Edwards Financial Reports, Featuring AAA Success Story”. The presentation covered how to users could access critical JD Edwards data with minimal IT intervention. It also recounted how AAA enhanced its overall spreadsheet experience using Microsoft Excel-based automation tools from Global Software.

This is the first time we’ve had the opportunity to host sessions with both AAA and Orange Lake Country Club. It was a great experience and we hope to work with them again soon!

Global attends SAP Financials

SAP held its annual SAP Financials conference at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Global Software was invited as a presenter and an exhibitor. Our own Jeff Alfers, Amy Collier, and Paul Zunker attended this event. There were over 200 breakout sessions across 13 tracks, hosted by top experts at SAP, independent consultants, and industry counterparts.  Session topics ranged from “What evolving financial reform means for U.S. businesses” to “Choosing the right application to support closes, consolidations, and planning” to “How to gain costing insights that improve pricing and profitability”.

Global Software, Inc. sponsored a breakout session entitled “Best Practices and Technologies for Building Microsoft Excel-Based SAP Financial Reports”.  It was hosted by Paul Zunker, Vice President, West Coast Operations at Global Software and Ronnie Henry, SAP Development Manager at GraceKennedy.  The session demonstrated to SAP users how to utilize spreadsheet automation processes with the SAP environment, while touching on GraceKennedy’s successful experience with Global Software’s Spreadsheet Server. Attendees took away key points on how to leverage their financial reporting in an easy-to-use, formula driven, real-time fashion within Excel.

Global attends ASUG PAC NW

The America’s SAP Users Group Pacific Northwest Chapter held its annual meeting at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center in Tacoma, WA. Global’s own Jeff Alfers and Leo Palana attended this event.  There were 16 breakout sessions hosted by various SAP developers and experts. The sessions touched on topics such as “Easy Discovery of Relevant SAP Enhancement Package Functionality”, “Driving Success through High Performance Enterprise Architecture”, and “How to Create a Comprehensive Data Governance Strategy on a Global Scale.” Global Software, Inc. was invited to attend as a presenter and an exhibitor.

Global Software, Inc. sponsored a breakout session entitled “Financial Reporting with Global Software’s Spreadsheet Server”.  It was hosted by Cord McCormick, Manager of Financial Reporting at Marine Resources Group.  The session introduced attendees to how Global Software’s Spreadsheet Server tended to the needs of seven independent operating companies. The benefits of Global Software’s dynamic and interactive Microsoft Excel-based automation tools, specifically Spreadsheet Server, were discussed and reviewed to give attendees a view into Global Software’s capabilities in financial business processes.

The American SAP Users Group Georgia Chapter held its annual meeting at the AT&T Corporate location in Atlanta, GA.  There were 15 breakout sessions throughout the day hosted by leading SAP developers and experts. Session topics ranged from “Building a Data Governance Executive Office” to “Tips and Tricks for Being a More Productive SAP User” to “SAP Change Control – Why Automation is the Only Way to Go.” Global Software, Inc. was invited as a presenter and a exhibitor.

Global Software, Inc. hosted a breakout session entitled, “Best Practices and Technologies for Building Microsoft Excel-based SAP Financial Reports” featuring Global Software’s own Caitlyn Ashton-Gill, Product Information Manager. The session focused on to make your spreadsheet reporting more interactive and dynamic with Global Software’s Microsoft Excel-based automation tools and how those tools benefited Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated. Attendees walked away with an understanding as to how Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated gained deeper insight into the financial health of its business and increased the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of the financial business processes.

Global welcomes Carol Bauldree as QA Analyst

Global Software, Inc. is pleased to welcome Carol Bauldree to our team as a QA Analyst. Carol will be testing Global Software, Inc.’s products to improve the process and the quality of our software as well as providing feedback to programmers.  “I love testing. I’ve always been a quality control person,” says Carol. “I’m constantly evaluating.” Prior to joining Global, Carol worked for 15 years in QA at All Scripts. In her free time, Carol loves to travel, work in the yard, and be active. She also enjoys spending time with her husband of 40 years and her grand children.  Welcome to Global Software, Carol!

Global Software, Inc. recently launched its redesigned homepage. The homepage hosts a number of new sections including a news and commentary area featuring the latest news and information from Global, along with interactive buttons to connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The homepage also contains a new interactive video highlighting key customer testimonials as well as various opportunities to learn more about our products.  Additionally, we have a designated area where users of our Microsoft Excel-based automation tools can access our newly enhanced customer and partner portals. Global Software, Inc. is pleased to welcome Leo Palana to our sales team. Leo will working out of the Seattle office in the role of Account Executive. Before joining Global Software, Inc., Leo worked as a banker with Wachovia, achieving as one of the top 5 producing bankers in NY. Born in Alaska, he grew up in Seattle and attended University of Washington earning a B.A. in Business Administration with focuses in Marketing and Finance. Leo enjoys break dancing and started the BBoy Network Channel which connects break dancers from all over the country. Welcome to the Global Software family Leo!
